Mainframe Trainer / System Admin

Key Responsibilities

• Deliver advanced training on mainframe technologies: COBOL, JCL, DB2, CICS, VSAM, z/OS
• Design and develop comprehensive training programs, including real-time use cases and project-based learning
• Mentor junior developers, trainees, and internal teams on mainframe best practices
• Conduct workshops, bootcamps, and corporate training sessions
• Evaluate trainee performance and provide structured feedback
• Stay updated with evolving mainframe technologies and modern integration practices
• Collaborate with stakeholders to customize training based on business requirements
• Support pre-sales/demo sessions for training programs (if required)
• Create documentation, knowledge repositories, and reusable training assets

Required Skills & Expertise

• Strong hands-on experience in IBM Mainframe (z/OS) environment
• Deep expertise in:
  • COBOL (batch & online programs)
  • JCL (job scheduling, utilities)
  • DB2 (SQL, performance tuning basics)
  • CICS (transaction processing)
  • VSAM (file handling)
• Good understanding of mainframe architecture and system utilities
• Exposure to production support, enhancements, and maintenance projects
• Knowledge of SDLC, Agile methodologies, and enterprise workflows
• Strong debugging and performance tuning skills

Experience

• 8–15 years of relevant experience in Mainframe development/support
• Minimum 2–5 years of training, mentoring, or coaching experience preferred
• Experience in domains like banking, insurance, or financial services is highly desirable

Educational Qualification

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, IT, or related field
• Mainframe certifications (preferred but not mandatory)
